  • Run an Awareness Stand
  1. Get involved

Run an Awareness Stand

Can your endocrine team help us fulfil one of the main aims of our charity? Help us to spread awareness of Addison's disease and adrenal insufficiency.

With our support, you can set up an Awareness stand in your local hospital to help educate staff, patients and visitors alike by distributing leaflets, sharing your professional experience or talking about your personal experience and signposting people to further information. You may even want to fundraise at the same time!

Who can run a stand?

Most of our awareness stands are run by Healthcare professionals, such as dedicated endocrine teams who are keen to educate people about Addison's and adrenal insufficiency, distribute leaflets and publications, and raise the profile of the charity.

However, if you are a charity member and would like to host a stand, please reach out to your endocrine team to support you in hosting a stand. You do need to have a sound knowledge of Addison's and adrenal insufficiency and the role of the ADSHG in order to best support this initiative.

You will be sharing information with healthcare colleagues and the general public (we have resources for both audiences).

Sign-up to run an Awareness stand in 2026

What is involved?

Please fill out our Sign-up form using the link above. You will need to let us know about the following:

Where?

Which hospital or GP surgery are you going to host your stand?

Not a HCP? Contact your local endocrine team to support you.

When?

What date will you host your stand? Can you host on Addison's Disease Day (29 May)?

What?

Check with your 'venue' that you can be supplied with table and chair(s), and permission to set up somewhere 'visible'.

Order your resources

Once you sign up, we will get in touch to check where you would like your resource pack delivered and will arrange tracked delivery for you.

Set up your stand

Use our leaflets and posters to make your stand eye-catching.  Layout our resources for show and distribution.

Have fun and take photos!

Chat to people, share information and have fun!  Please take some photos and, with permission, share them with us.

Looking for inspiration: Joanne Brown, Clinical Endocrine Nurse Specialist ran a stand for us in 2023. Read our blog to learn more.

What will we send you for your stand?

We have put together a resource pack on our online store, that we will arrange to be delivered to you at the most convenient address for you. It includes a few items for 'demonstration' e.g. an example member pack, hospital folder and emergency injection kit. It also includes a range of leaflets that you can hand out to interested people, with some for the general public and some for healthcare professionals.

  • Hospital Folder
  • Member Pack
  • NHS Steroid Emergency Cards
  • Emergency Injection Kit (Small)
  • Injection Training Kit
  • Emergency Injection Instruction Leaflets
  • Surgical Guidelines
  • Adrenal Insufficiency Action Plan leaflets
  • About the ADSHG leaflets
  • Bunting
  • Notes for Ward Nurses
  • Notes for Primary Care and A&E Nurses
  • What are Addison's and adrenal insufficiency leaflets
  • Let's Get Fundraising Leaflets
  • Managing Addison's or adrenal insufficiency leaflets
  • ADSHG join us cards
  • A3 Poster
  • ADSHG Pens

Also available to download and print are other free publications and posters from our website.

Running an Awareness stand can also be a fundraising opportunity, and you will be able to order a collection box for your stand if you would also like to collect cash donations.

What support will I get from the ADSHG?

We are so grateful to you for considering setting up an Awareness stand in the hospital where you work, or your local hospital. Thank you! We know that it can feel daunting so we are here to support you, to help make your stand eye-catching, and ensure you have the resources you need to hand.

We are here to:

  1. Guide you through the process above if you need additional support.
  2. Arrange delivery of a resource pack to your chosen address.
  3. Help you potentially source a volunteer to help you run your stand if you need another person to help.
  4. Publicise your event via our Website pre-event and via social media and or magazine/newsletters post-event.

Share our poster!

Whether you’re an Endocrine Nurse looking to set up a stand, or a patient wanting to ask your hospital to get involved, print off our poster to raise awareness and link others to our webpage for more information.

Together we will improve the lives of those with Addison's disease and adrenal insufficiency!

Minor ailments can affect anyone with a steroid-dependent adrenal condition very differently. Things like vomiting, diarrhoea, colds and flu could cause an adrenal crisis. It’s important that you spot the early symptoms of a bug or cold and adjust your steroid replacement medication.
