Get involved Get involved From its very beginnings on Deana Kenward's dining room table in 1984, the Addison’s Disease Self-Help Group has brought volunteers together to support anyone affected by Addison’s disease and adrenal insufficiency. Volunteers continue to be vital to our work. Read on for ways you can get involved in our work. You can also become a member, fundraise, research and leave a legacy. Could you become an ADSHG Local Meet-up Host? Our charity supports a range of informal local meet-ups across the United Kingdom. They are run by local group members and provide a chance to meet other members, provide encouragement, share experiences and laughter. They take place in a diverse range of venues, from cafes, community halls, pubs or occasionally in a host's home. To make sure these gatherings are positive and safe for everyone, we've put together some helpful tips to support you! Become a Local Meet-up host Could you become an ADSHG volunteer? Donating even just a couple of hours a week allows the ADSHG to be able to provide the care and support everyone living with Addison’s or adrenal insufficiency needs. Volunteering is a great way to support ADSHG’s work, develop your skills and utilise your expertise. Every volunteer with ADSHG has a simple volunteer role description, which sets out what's involved, how we will support the volunteer and what we expect of each other. We advertise volunteering opportunities to our members via email, so if you’re not already a member please join us to hear more! If you can't commit on a regular basis, you may like to help out as a social host at our local support groups or write for our members' magazine.
