Thank you to Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust endocrine nurses, Jane Craig and Joanne Wardle, for working with the ADSHG to provide an excellent Injection Training event just outside Newcastle, on 28 Mar 2026.

Nearly 50 attendees joined us for a Sick Day Rules Refresher and hands-on injection training, and left feeling more informed, confident and less alone.

Why attend a training session?

Research shows that regular injection training helps you to feel more confident in the scenario where you need to use your emergency injection kit. Administering an injection early to prevent or treat adrenal crisis improves your health outcomes and reduces the chances of you having to be admitted to hospital.

Getting together with other people with adrenal insufficiency, and their family or friends, also helps you to learn from each other, and feel less alone.

Newcastle: Saturday 28 May

Jane Craig, Lead Endocrine Specialist Nurse and Joanne Wardle, Endocrine Nurse Specialist, generously shared their time and expertise to deliver a presentation that included a refresher on:

Cathy Thompson (ADSHG Director) attended to welcome attendees, share charity news and updates, and provide a 'pop-up' shop.  The ADSHG were also thrilled to offer a free Injection Training Kit to each person, to support 'at home practice', keeping skills fresh and confidence topped up.

We are thrilled that attendees rated the event as 9.6 out of 10.

Comments about the afternoon included;

"A lovely relaxed and informative afternoon going through the basics of adrenal insufficiencies, sick day rules and emergency injections."

"Excellent facilitators with good knowledge "

and

"More of the same please! "

Can your nurse help bring Injection Training to your area?

We are hoping to take our injection training sessions around the UK to regional areas near you! But we do need help from local endocrine nursing teams to help us deliver the training. If you think your endocrine nurse might be keen to get involved, please signpost them to our 'Help us provide emergency injection training" webpage. Why not show them our video from the day for inspiration!
